Concrete Driveways Langley

Langley's Best Driveway Contractor

Driveway Ideas

Over the course of our 25+ years of pouring concrete driveways, we have poured numerous combinations of driveway styles and textures. We keep up with current trends in the concrete finishing industry and advise our clients on the best finishes for their criteria and budget.

Most of our most popular finishes are listed below, along with brief descriptions of each. We also have a projects section that goes into greater detail about the driveway process on various driveway projects. These are all projects that we have completed from beginning to end.

Removal Of Existing Concrete

We are frequently contacted for driveway removal. We have the necessary equipment to demolish concrete driveways, transport them to a recycling facility, and recycle them.  Rather than hiring a separate concrete demolition contractor, let us handle everything for you.

Forming The Driveway

We build driveways to last, which is why all of our driveways abide to the highest industry standards. We begin by establishing a 4-inch-plus gravel base. We always use rebar and never mesh, which means that if your driveway cracks, it will remain intact for the remainder of its life due to the rebar. We use only the highest-quality air-entrained concrete mixes. We recommend using one of our driveway sealers to add additional protection.

Float Finish Driveways

The rough texture of the float finish concrete driveway makes it a safe yet a decorative concrete finish. The float finish has a random appearance and is ideal for those who prefer a less formal and linear look than the broom finish. Priced similarly to broom finish driveways, float finish driveways are frequently saw cut rather than hand cut to incorporate decorative elements. Concrete driveways can be enhanced with a float finish by adding concrete borders.

Float Finish with A Border

The cost of a concrete driveway with a bordered float finish is higher than the cost of one without. If desired, we can use any of our other finishes or colours for the border. Depending on the size and design, borders can be monolithic or separate pours. Concrete sealer is recommended for all of our concrete, including the driveway.

Stamped Concrete Driveways

Stamped concrete driveways come in a wide range of styles and colours. Stamped concrete mimics the look of stone, slate, and wood, depending on the stamping technique used. High-quality, realistic results can be achieved through the use of a wide range of colours. Stamped concrete driveways are made to order according to your preferences. The finished stamped concrete is sealed to keep out the elements and enhance its aesthetic appeal. Avoid salting and icing these driveways in the winter, as they are the most expensive and should be protected.

Exposed Aggregate Driveways

When it comes to decorative concrete driveways in the city, exposed aggregate is a popular choice. The exposed rock can be sealed to provide a beautiful decorative surface while also providing protection against the winter’s wet and cold weather. Even if the area has already been exposed, winter maintenance is still required. Exposed Aggregate Concrete driveways can be coloured to match the house’s colour or to serve as an eye-catching feature contrasting feature.

Broom Finish

Our company’s most popular driveway design is the broom finish. Running a horsehair broom across the concrete surface before the final set is achieved can produce this finish. The broom-finished concrete driveway provides excellent traction in the winter months. The design can be given a touch of color by including it as an integral part of it.

Modern Driveway Styles

A smooth finish with evenly spaced saw cuts is typical of a modern concrete driveway. A modern driveway might have gaps between the slabs to allow grass to grow through, or it might have stones or even artificial grass between the slabs. Using an acid wash, a light sandblast, or a light wash, the modern driveway finish can be lightly textured. Please see our driveways section for more information on contemporary style driveways.

Acid Stain Driveways

An Acid Stain Concrete Driveway is truly one-of-a-kind. Acid stain is applied to the concrete driveway after about 30 days. Acid-stained driveways should be free of spills and other stains; oil stains, for example, can degrade the quality of subsequent acid staining. The acid stains react with the concrete each time, resulting in a one-of-a-kind work of art. Acid-stained concrete driveways have a warm earthy colour and are usually sealed with a high gloss sealer.

Light Sandblast Driveways

Sandblasting or lightly washing the surface creates the Concrete Driveway with a Light Sandblast. If sandblasting is not an option, washing the driveway can produce a light sandblast effect. For light washes, we have depth-controlled concrete surface retarders. This driveway has a shallow retardation depth, exposing only the sand in the concrete matrix; there is no aggregate in this concrete finish.

Wave Broom Finish Concrete

Wave Broom finish is very similar to the traditional broom finish, with the exception that the broom is pulled up and down with each pass, creating a wave pattern. This concrete driveway offers all of the advantages of a traditional broom finish driveway while being less expensive. Although the wave finish was once very popular, it is now considered a traditional style.

Decorative Concrete Combinations

Concrete driveway combinations offer all of the previously stated options in any combination and design you can imagine, and they are extremely durable. The driveway’s design is as important as the materials used in its construction. The ultimate goal is for them to have the perfect marriage. Colors are virtually limitless, and patterns and finishes are only limited by your own creativity and design abilities. The specifications for each decorative concrete driveway that we build are tailored to our customers’ specific needs and tastes.

Exposed Aggregate with Borders

Numerous custom homes feature exposed aggregate concrete driveways. We pour a sunken rough slab border around any of the finishes above or below, as well as mortared natural stone or brick borders. A driveway with exposed aggregate and border combinations is one of the more expensive options. Spray paint is a popular and effective method of experimenting with border designs prior to forming them.

Stamped Concrete and Borders

Stamped concrete driveways with borders are another high-end option for concrete driveways. Combining these two items results in a vast number of possibilities. Integral or topical colour hardeners are available. Up to eight different colours from our extensive colour palette can be used to create natural rock and stone effects. Borders are poured prior to or after the main body, depending on the desired finish.

Concrete Sealing

Driveways take the most abuse when it comes to concrete work. To avoid damage, keep your driveway free of salt and other ice melt products. Don’t let your car leak these corrosive liquids and oil on your new driveway, as most stains are nearly impossible to remove. Regular sealer application will protect and beautify your driveway for many years to come. Our maintenance services are available to all of our customers, ensuring the longevity of their investment.
